What are the system requirements?

Talkatoo works on Windows, macOS and iOS

The following Operating System versions are supported:

  • *Windows 10 or newer; Windows Server 2016 or newer.
  •  **macOS 12 or newer
  • iOS 14.1 or newer
  • Android 7 or newer

*WINDOWS
Support for running Chrome, on which Talkatoo is built, will end for the following operating systems in the summer of 2023:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8,
  • Windows 8.1
  • Server 2008 R2
  • Server 2012
  • Server 2012 R2
  • MacOS 10.14

It is likely that before the end of the year, Talkatoo will no longer be installable on computers running these versions of Windows, and it's possible that issues with use, either introducing errors or leaving it unable to be used at all, will occur before then.  

 

**MAC
Talkatoo Desktop 2.14.1 is the last version that supported any version of Mac OS below 12.  Starting at 2.14.3, released in Dec 2025, OS 12 is the minimum version required. 

If you have an older version installed, it will update to the latest compatible version, which is 2.14.1, and any subsequent attempts to update will fail. 

If you do not have it installed, but require this older version temporarily, please reach out to support and ask for the link to download 2.14.1 for Mac.  

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

Currently the minimum version of iOS required is 14.1.  That means that at this time, any iPhone 7 or above should be able to run Talkatoo, assuming it is updated past 14.1. 

The iPhone 6 is unable to be updated past 12, so is not able to be used with Talkatoo.

We have the Talkatoo Mobile App for iPhones and iPads, and Android.

At this time, there is no support for Chromebook

Computer Hardware

CPU

Windows: Versions available for 32 and 64-bit Windows.

Mac: Versions available for both Intel and Arm-based (M1, M2 etc) 

Memory

The memory requirements for Talkatoo are minimal, however enough memory should be available on the computer for a smooth experience overall, so we suggest a minimum of 4Gb of ram, and recommend 8+ Gb.

 

Internet

Because Talkatoo is cloud-based software, a stable internet connection is required to use Talkatoo. 

For optimal performance, it should be at least 5 Mbps up and down as tested from the computer being used, with no packet loss.  
Actual use per user, is estimated at 1-200 kbps while actively dictating. 

 

Talkatoo uses port 443 for all communication with our servers.
