Troubleshooting steps to try if you're having trouble with the mobile microphone for both iOS and Android

If you are having trouble using the Talkatoo mobile microphone, whether you're trying to set it up for the first time, or have been using it, and it's stopped working, you're in the right place.  

Login Issues
Unable to Pair
Failed to Connect
Dictation Error

The most common issue we are seeing right now is that when trying to connect, or reconnect from the iPhone app, it will seem like it connected for a couple of seconds, and then change to Connection Failed.  To fix this:
Quit Talkatoo on the computer, and relaunch it. This will usually fix it. 

Cannot Log In 

If you are trying to sign in on the Talkatoo Mobile Mic but you are getting a message that your email address or password is incorrect, try the following:

  1. Close and relaunch Talkatoo completely by opening the App Switcher (iOS) (varies by Android device, but often swiping up, or the left most bottom button) and swiping Talkatoo up or away to close it. Try relaunching it from the Home screen and logging in again.
  2. Try signing in to the Talkatoo desktop app, or the Admin Portal on the computer to verify you are using the correct password.
  3. Verify the correct password is being entered by touching the eye to display what you are typing.  Typing complex passwords on a phone keyboard can be frustrating at the best of times.  If necessary, you can change it to something simpler by resetting it.




Cannot pair phone with computer

If you're trying to pair your phone with a computer, either for the first time, or after removing it, and it will not pair, try the following:

  1. On the computer: Quit Talkatoo and relaunch it, and then attempt to connect again.
  2. On your phone: Close and relaunch Talkatoo completely by opening the App Switcher (iOS) (varies by Android device, but often swiping up, or the left most bottom button) and swiping Talkatoo up or away to close it. Try relaunching it from the Home screen and logging in again.

It was working, but will not reconnect

If you were previously using the Talkatoo MobileMic but now it will not connect, try the following:

  1. On the computer: Quit Talkatoo and relaunch it, and then attempt to connect again.
  2. On your phone: Close and relaunch Talkatoo completely by opening the App Switcher (iOS) (varies by Android device, but often swiping up, or the left most bottom button) and swiping Talkatoo up or away to close it. Try relaunching it from the Home screen and logging in again.
  3. On your phone: Remove the PC from the home screen by clicking the 3 dots and choosing delete. Then rescan the QR code. 

Dictation Error

If you are trying to start dictation on the phone, but you get a message saying Dictation Error, or microphone in use, ensure you are not on the phone, or using the microphone with some other app, such as facetime, video chat or a voice recorder.  

You may need to quit and relaunch Talkatoo on the device after quitting the other program using the microphone. 



As this mobile microphone is a new program, there may be a slightly higher likelihood of running into issues, mostly around connecting, and reconnecting.  Rest assured we are working very hard to find and fix any remaining issues.  If you experience any issue, we want to know. 

Navigate to the Settings tab and click Report a Bug - this will open your email app and attach the log.  Please also provide as much detail about what occurred, what you were doing when it happened etc, whether it's recurring, anything that fixed the issue, or anything else that might be helpful.
