This section of the Portal will allow you to control the output format if copying and pasting into your PMS is causing loss of formatting.
Do I need to change my setting?
There are a wide variety of Practice Management Software available, and they all handle things a little differently, especially when it comes to pasting in formatted text.
Do I need to change?
When you copy an entire note or a section of note from the Talkatoo desktop app, or the Web Portal, you expect the formatting you see to be copied and pasted into your PMS, but due to the differences in these systems, that's not always been the case.
That's why we've introduced a new Global Settings page that allows you to specify the formatting options that will work best with your PMS.
Copying here refers to using the buttons, either Copy on one of the sections (for the SOAP note), or the Copy Entire Note button at the top of the page (for all note types).
Selecting and copying text directly is not guaranteed to work, as it will be formatted differently.
If you have experienced this, where you copy the note, but upon pasting it, your bold text is no longer bold, or bullet points or numbered lists are all together, then you may want to try a different formatting option. See below for help on choosing which one.
These settings will affect all types of notes, including custom notes you have created.
Which Option should I use?
Rich Text (Default)
This is the default option, and the one that will work best for most software, including Cornerstone.
Markdown
Markdown is what's known as a markup language, which uses regular characters to format text in certain ways. eg **Bold** would be converted to Bold in a PMS system that uses Markdown, such as ezyVet.
If you paste this into a text field that does not support markdown, you would see asterisks (*) and hyphens where you would be expecting bold text and bullet points. That means this is not the right option for you.
Plain Text
This is the fallback option that will use only plain text characters, such as hyphens and spacing to maintain at least a basic level of formatting. Options like bold and italics will not be possible here. This will be best for AviMark and DaySmart (formerly Vetter) as they do not take any formatting pasted.
Regenerating submitted notes
There may be a bit of trial and error involved if the default is not working well for you, but your PMS is not listed above.
The good news is that you can change the setting and then go back and redo the note with the new setting to see if it's helped.
Once you change the text formatting option in Global Settings, it will apply to new notes you record. If you have a bunch of notes that already generated with incorrect formatting, you can still go resubmit them to get the current formatting.
To regenerate a note, you would open the note, and then click the Regenerate button beside the current note type.
